You or the Night

While I wait for those desired
Engulfed in a cold heat.
As we’re lost in the fire
My dear we’ll just take seat.

I can see as you hide
While I am here to seek
But longer I seek the more you slide,
Sliding past as I grow weak.

Stay close for you I cannot lose
I know I’m selfish as I say
I hope it’s me over him you choose
But if it’s him just please be here to stay.

If it’s him chosen in the end
So be it, I’d love to be your friend.
Because no matter what, you or the night;
I’d be with you, engulfed in the night.
